What If You Finally Put Yourself First?

The Question That Changed Everything

“What if?” Two little words that can either keep you stuck, or set you free.

For a long time, I used “what if” as an excuse. What if I fail? What if people think I’m crazy for quitting my job? What if it doesn’t work? That same fear shows up for my clients too. They’ll say things like, “What if I can’t lose the weight?” or “What if it’s just my age?”

But here’s the truth I had to learn: fear isn’t the problem. It’s the pause button we keep pressing on our own lives.

I see it every day: Women who are strong, capable, and exhausted. We take care of everyone else until there’s nothing left for us. And one day, you wake up and realize you’re living on autopilot, surviving instead of thriving.

So here’s the real “what if” worth asking: What if you finally put yourself first?

When Fear Becomes a Habit

I used to think fear meant stop. Now I see it as a signal to pay attention.

For me, that fear showed up when I started GlowCo. I had a stable career and a steady paycheck, but I also had this voice inside saying, “You’re meant for more.” I ignored it for a while; until I couldn’t.

It’s the same in health. You tell yourself you’ll start when the timing is better, when the kids are older, when work slows down. But guess what? There’s no perfect time. There’s only one right now.

Healing starts when you stop letting fear make your decisions.

The Wake-Up Call

I talk to so many clients who say, “My dad didn’t take care of himself,” or “My mom struggled with the same thing, and now I see it happening to me.” That realization can hit hard.

For me, it came when I lost my own dad. I remember thinking, If I don’t change something, I’m next. It was that simple. That moment flipped the switch for me.

Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish, it’s necessary. Because the truth is, you can’t pour from an empty cup. And you can’t keep ignoring the signs your body is giving you. Whether it’s fatigue, anxiety, weight gain, or hormone imbalance—your body is talking. You just have to listen.

Small Steps, Big Shifts

When I talk about putting yourself first, I don’t mean dropping everything and booking a two-week wellness retreat (though that sounds nice). I mean starting with the smallest decision that says, “I matter, too.”

That might look like:

  • Booking the lab work you’ve been putting off.
  • Saying no to something that drains you.
  • Finally getting your hormones checked.
  • Choosing real food over convenience food.
  • Going to bed instead of scrolling.

It’s the little things that stack up and start changing how you feel. You don’t have to fix it all overnight, you just have to start.

When “What If” Becomes Freedom

For me, the day I chose to bet on myself was the day everything changed. It wasn’t easy. It wasn’t instant. But it was real.

Now, I get to sit across from women who are doing the same thing: choosing themselves for the first time in years. They’re saying “yes” to feeling good again. They’re saying “no” to living tired, overwhelmed, and disconnected.

And the best part? Once you start putting yourself first, everyone around you benefits too. Your energy changes, your confidence grows. You show up differently—for your family, your work, your life.
